Dartmouth Health's Birthing Pavilion in Lebanon, NH, is seeking a Clinical Nurse to join the Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum unit on a full-time basis. The role involves autonomous nursing care across antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum periods, with collaboration across NICU and other units to ensure high-quality maternal-newborn outcomes.
The position requires completing a 12-hour day/night rotating schedule, with weekends and holidays included.
Our Birthing Pavilion is a 21-room, 24-bed Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum (LDRP) unit. We average approximately 1300 deliveries each year. About 55% of our patients are high-risk and receive care through our Maternal-Fetal Medicine service. We receive transports from all of New Hampshire, Southern Vermont, and occasionally Maine. We offer a robust midwifery service and a generalist physician service. We provide antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, normal newborn, and focused newborn care. We have a two-bed triage room where we triage all our patients. Our unit includes two operating rooms (ORs) where everyone is trained in perioperative care (i.e., circulating and scribing in the OR), as well as Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) services. We collaborate with many units in the organization, including the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Cardiovascular Critical Care (CVCC), and the Main Operating Room, to provide highly specialized care to our pregnant and postpartum patients. The Intensive Care Nursery (ICN or NICU) is next door to us, and we have a very close relationship with their team.
The Clinical Nurse is an engaged and credentialed member of the Professional Nursing Organization and is responsible for autonomous practice directed by the professional tenets of practitioner, leader/decision maker, scientist and transferor. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide evidence-based care and to continuously monitor and evaluate practice to ensure safe passage of patients that is in the best interest of populations served.
