Job summary

Lifepoint Health's Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Behavioral Health Unit is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for full-time night shift with rotating weekends. You will provide direct patient care using the nursing process and administer meds, monitor patients, and document care as part of a collaborative interprofessional team.

The role requires an Associate degree in nursing (BSN preferred), Kentucky license, BCLS, and a commitment to ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current LPN license to practice in Kentucky and BCLS certification (within one week of hire).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process for behavioral health patients.
• Perform plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Document patient care in a timely and accurate manner.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support).
• Deliver age- and culture-appropriate patient and family education.
• Participate in unit and organizational performance improvement and continuing education.
• Provide quality patient care and may be assigned on call or to other shifts/units as needed.

Department/Unit Summary

• The Behavioral Health Unit at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication, essential for providing specialized care to patients. The BHU unit is an Adult Psych Unit & Geri Psych Unit. Adult psych unit age 18 and up - 22 beds - have an additional 8 beds as overflow unit Geri Psych unit age 65 and over. A multimillion‑dollar renovation has been completed; this renovation improved the aesthetic of the unit as well as bringing ligature points and safety up to the latest standards.
• Each team of nurses are very supportive and work in collaboration with three Psychiatrists on staff and one medical director who is onsite 8 days a month and works telehealth.
• You’ll make an impact by utilizing plan of care intervention.
• You will shape exceptional patient journeys every day and leverage your skills to directly impact patient wellbeing.
• Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice for behavioral health patients. Collaborates with the interprofessional team to support a safe, therapeutic environment and high‑quality outcomes.
• Performs plan‑of‑care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Documents of patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).

• Assesses learning needs and delivers age‑/culture‑appropriate patient and family education.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.
• Participates in unit and organizational performance improvement and required continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may be assigned on call.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

• Associate’s degree in nursing required, bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Required License/Certifications

• Current LPN to practice in the state of Kentucky.
• BCLS or within one week of hire.
