About Duke Raleigh Hospital, A Campus of Duke University Hospital

With 204-beds, it is the third largest of Duke Health’s four hospitals and offers a comprehensive array of services, including cancer, cardiovascular, neuroscience, advanced gastrointestinal, and wound healing care.
Duke Nursing Highlights:
This is a behavioral health rounding nurse position that is embedded within the psychiatry consult liaison team. The premise of this role is support, resource and education medical-surgical nurses on the floors on how to care for patients with behavioral health needs. The BHRN will act as a liaison brining information from the behavioral health team to the nurses/providers and from the nurses/providers back to the behavioral health team. They will round on all IVCs, physician holds in the ED, patients on the psych consult list and the behavioral health RN consult list. BHRN will respond to all behavioral health emergencies in the hospital and assist the teams during these emergencies with de-escalation techniques, medication administration and following care plans that have been created. There are also daily chart audits that will be conducted regarding a variety of regulatory needs. The BHRN works closely with inpatient medical-surgical nursing, nursing leadership and interacts with disciplines throughout the hospital that may be caring for patients with behavioral health needs.
Independently plan and provide professional nursing care for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

Education:
Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN program.
Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within seven years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification.
Experience:
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:
Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
