Nhccare in Maryland Heights, MO seeks a Full-Time/PT/PRN Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) for DAY shift (7A-7P) at the Center for Behavioral Health Maryland Heights. The RN provides professional nursing care to behavioral health patients, including assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, patient education, and coordination of care.

The RN also serves as a unit leader, guiding Mental Health Technicians to ensure safe, effective patient care and continuity of treatment

Qualifications

• Active RN license.
• Current BLS certification.
• Behavioral health nursing experience.
• Experience with EHR/EMR systems.
• Knowledge of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient intake, assessments and vital-sign checks; identify changes and elevate concerns.
• Administer medications and treatments with aseptic technique and infection-control practices.
• Support individualized care plans, therapeutic communication, crisis response and discharge planning.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation in EHR/EMR while protecting patient privacy.
• Coordinate with clinicians and community services; educate patients and families.

Description

Position: Full-Time/PT/PRN Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) for DAY shift; 7A-7P; 7p-7a
Location: Center for Behavioral Health Maryland Heights

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to behavioral health patients, including assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, patient education, and coordination of care. The RN also serves as a leader on the unit, providing direction and oversight to Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) to ensure safe, effective patient care.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient intake, assessments, and vital-sign checks; identify changes and elevate concerns.
• Administer medications and treatments, including injections, using aseptic technique and infection-control practices.
• Support individualized care plans, therapeutic communication, crisis response, and discharge planning.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) or electronic medical record (EMR) systems while protecting patient privacy under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
• Coordinate with clinicians and community services; provide patient and family education.

Requirements

• Active registered nurse license and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, as required for the role.
• Behavioral health nursing experience and strong patient assessment, communication, and de-escalation skills.
• Knowledge of medication administration, patient safety, medical terminology, and confidentiality.
