Maria Parham Franklin in Louisburg, NC, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for adult behavioral health. This full-time night-shift role (7:00 pm–7:00 am) involves direct patient care, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and adherence to nursing standards.

A compassionate, patient-centered approach is essential. The ideal candidate holds an NC RN license (or compact), ASN, BLS certification, and at least one year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Current NC RN license (or compact license).
• ASN from accredited nursing program.
• BSN preferred.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association is required.
• One year of experience preferred.
• No on-call, every other weekend, rotating holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care using the nursing process for behavioral health patients.
• Documents patient care in a timely and accurate manner.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to care team and families.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living.
• Assists physicians with procedures and performs required tasks.
• Coordinates care across transfers, discharges, referrals and psychosocial support.
• Educates patients and families with age- and culture-appropriate information.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Provides care across shifts/units as needed and may be on-call.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary

Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice for behavioral health patients. Collaborates with the interprofessional team to support a safe, therapeutic environment and high-quality outcomes.

Reports to: Director or Manager of Department

How You'll Contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

• Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
• Assists physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs).
• Assesses learning needs and delivers age-/culture-appropriate patient and family education.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Participates in unit and organizational performance improvement and required continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may be assigned on-call.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina (or compact license)
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited nursing program
• Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required)
• Handle with Care preferred.
• Active North Carolina RN license (single state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins

Patient Populations Served

• Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.
• Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record. Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens may be present.
• Physical Requirements (typical): Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, keyboard entry, and repetitive hand/arm movements; occasional sitting, squatting, and kneeling; rare running or climbing.
• Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood/body fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.

Qualifications And Requirements

• Current state RN license and an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
• One year of experience is preferred (new grads encouraged to apply)
• No call
• Every other weekend
• Rotating Holidays
