Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a Behavioral Health unit. The role features a 3x12s night schedule (7p-7a) with holidays and weekends required, and a $20,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates with a 2-year commitment.

Join a 33-bed Behavioral Health Unit serving adults and geriatrics, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6-1:9 and a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Current North Carolina or compact-state RN license.
  • Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire; AHA ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
  • One year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
  • Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
  • Performs timely and accurate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record.
  • Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
  • Performs timely and accurate QI assessments.

Join our team in a 33-bed Behavioral Health Unit specializing in adult and geriatric patients. Staffed with compassionate healthcare professionals, including RNs, CNAs, Mental Health Assistants, Psychiatrists, and Mental Health Providers. Operating with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6-1:9, our unit treats a variety of diagnoses such as Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), and Substance Use Disorder (SUD). Patients may present with psychosis, suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, mania, or exacerbations of mental illness. This role offers an opportunity to work collaboratively in a supportive environment focused on providing quality care and support to individuals experiencing behavioral health crises.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current North Carolina or compact state Registered Nurse license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
  • One year of experience preferred
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
