EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with a BSN and two years' experience in Endoscopy or four years in GI nursing with management experience.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in State of applicable state, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. CGRN required within two years. PALS preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
- Directs bronchoscopy technologists, nurses, and related support personnel in accordance with professional guidelines, administrative policies, regulatory agency standards and hospital patient care standards to provide quality endoscopy services and patient care.
- Collaborates with the coordinator to monitor work flow to ensure that procedures are performed and age/developmentally appropriate patient care is administered in accordance with hospital/department guidelines.
- Collaborates with department manager, ensures a secure and safe patient environment by maintaining staff that are qualified and appropriately trained.
- Ensures patient education objectives are met and complaints/compliments are effectively, appropriately acknowledged to maintain good customer relations and quality care.
- Directs staff to ensure departmental quality improvement activities are prepared within the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals Organization and other regulatory guidelines.

- Provides direct patient care in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members to achieve the highest standard of care.
- Collaborates with Department Manager and Administrative Director on department budget, capital equipment and care giving decisions.
