Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Pulmonary Med Surg

WellStar Kennestone Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for the Green 4 South Tower Acute Pulmonary Care unit, a primarily pulmonary, medical-surgical unit with 27 telemetry beds. This unit provides 24-hour services for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients throughout the year. Common diagnoses include Pneumonia, COPD with acute exacerbation, Asthma, Pulmonary Embolism, Acute Respiratory Failure, and others.

The RN will be a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality, safe, patient-centered care. The role involves practicing in a supportive environment guided by the Wellstar Shared Governance Model, Professional Practice Model, and evidence-based standards. RNs are expected to uphold the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and the ANA Code of Ethics, advocating for patients and system policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and deliver individualized care based on evidence-based practices.
• Partner with patients and families using effective communication methods, including bedside reports and education.
• Coordinate safe, quality care through interdisciplinary collaboration and timely documentation.
• Participate in performance improvement, research activities, and shared governance.
• Serve as preceptor or mentor, supporting professional development.
• Promote evidence-based practice and participate in data collection and protocol development.
• Plan for patient care across the continuum, supporting resource efficiency.
• Adhere to all policies, standards, and legal requirements, including safety goals.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Less than 1 year of clinical experience required; prior direct patient care preferred.
• Current RN license (single state or multi-state compact) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; BLS instructor certification preferred.
