An established healthcare facility in South Central Virginia is seeking dedicated Clinical Nurses to join their team. Community Memorial Hospital (CMH) is a 70-bed facility located in South Central Virginia, serving residents of over 7 counties, including North Carolina, due to its proximity to the I-85 interstate and the NC border. CMH is a Primary Stroke Center capable of managing acute ischemic strokes. The Acute Care unit comprises three nursing units with a total of 54 beds, serving a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics, including medical, telemetry, and surgical patients.
The typical nurse to patient ratio in Acute Care is 1:4, supported by patient care technicians, safety associates, secretaries, and cardiac monitor technicians. The team also includes 24-hour Hospitalists and ancillary staff. CMH fosters a family and patient-centered atmosphere emphasizing teamwork and continuous education, with opportunities for staff to advance their skills. The hospital is actively recruiting specialists to expand inpatient and outpatient services.
The Clinical Nurse I role involves applying technical skills and knowledge to meet patient and family needs, assisting with illness prevention, wellness maintenance, and comfort. It provides guidance, education, and initial leadership experience, delivering and documenting age-specific care based on medical orders and multidisciplinary plans, including safe medication administration.
The Clinical Nurse II role demonstrates mastery of clinical skills, applying this knowledge to specific patient populations. It involves recognizing changes in patient conditions, intervening appropriately, mobilizing resources, providing leadership, and ensuring accurate documentation and safe medication administration.
The Clinical Nurse III role requires advanced clinical knowledge, anticipating patient needs, serving as a role model, and providing comprehensive, age-specific care based on medical orders and multidisciplinary plans, with a focus on safety and effective intervention.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
- Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible/compact state for Clin I, II, III.
- AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent for continued employment.
Experience Requirements:
- Clin I: None
- Clin II: 12-24 months RN experience
- Clin III: 3 years clinical experience.
Preferred Experience:
- Clin I: Experience as LPN, nursing assistant, or care partner
- Clin II & III: Healthcare experience with similar patient populations.
Education Requirements:
- Diploma or Associate Degree from an approved nursing program for all levels.
- All RNs without a Bachelor's degree must enroll in an RN to BSN program within two years and complete it within five years unless grandfathered.
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or higher.
- Clin III: Certification in a specialty area.
Independent Actions:
- Follow physician/licensed provider orders.
- Practice within Virginia nursing regulations.
- Adhere to ANA Code of Ethics and hospital policies.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Organize work and delegate tasks to team members across all levels.
Additional Requirements:
- Work all shifts, including weekends and holidays, with schedules set by management.
- Shift rotations and hours may be adjusted as necessary.
Age Groups Served: As appropriate based on unit assignment.
Physical Requirements include lifting 20-50 lbs, exposure to hazardous substances, prolonged standing and sitting, bending, walking, climbing, reaching, and sensory and emotional demands typical of a fast-paced healthcare environment.
