Job Summary

Full-time (Days) 7am-7pm

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team ensuring high-quality, safe patient care. They operate within a clinical environment supported by Nurse Managers, the Wellstar Shared Governance Model, and guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

All RN Clinical Nurses must be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, the Scope of Practice, and the Code of Ethics by the American Nurses Association. They uphold patient advocacy, system policies, and service excellence.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Exemplary Practice and Outcomes: Perform the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and individualized care. Coordinate care through effective partnerships, recognizing caring as central to optimal outcomes.
  • Relationship-based patient care: Provide care tailored to patient characteristics (age, gender, disease, culture). Partner with patients and families using appropriate communication methods, keeping them informed and centered on their goals.
  • Standards of Practice: Practice according to current clinical standards.
Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe, quality care, promoting respectful, inclusive interdisciplinary communication and timely documentation.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by practicing responsibly, supporting recruitment and retention, and participating in performance improvement, research, and shared governance.
Professional Development and Initiative
  • Complete all required competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training.
  • Serve as a preceptor or mentor to foster a qualified workforce and model professional nursing practice.
Evidence-Based Practice and Research
  • Promote evidence-based practice, research, and performance improvement activities, including value analysis.
  • Uphold organizational policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
  • Participate in data collection, clinical questions, and resource utilization to improve practice.
Resources and Support
  • Plan for patient care across the continuum, develop protocols, and support resource efficiency.
Minimum Education and Certification

Associate's Degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited nursing program is required. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

Certifications required upon hire include RN licensure (single-state or multi-state compact) and BLS certification (Instructor preferred).

Experience

Less than 1 year of clinical experience post-graduation is required; direct patient care experience is preferred.
