Responsibilities
The PACU RN is accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor. The RN is responsible for delivering patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the PACU. They coordinate post-operative care with surgeons and anesthesiologists, guide other personnel, and maintain standards of care. They communicate with physicians regarding patient condition changes, monitor hemodynamics, and review diagnostic results. They collaborate with other departments to ensure quality care, efficient patient flow, and unit organization. They adhere to regulations, participate in performance improvement activities, and act as a resource for staff.
