As an integral member of the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) healthcare team, the Registered Professional Nurse (RN) upholds the YNHHS mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives to provide the highest level of patient-centered care. The RN practices professional nursing within the legal and ethical frameworks established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, ANA standards, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model. The role of the RN is exemplified by leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and ensuring quality outcomes.

Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. All newly hired RNs must have current BCLS certification or obtain it within one month of hire.
Experience: All RNs are encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical program.
Licensure: Licensed and registered in Connecticut. Specialty certification is highly encouraged.
Skills: Foundational RN skills with encouragement for ongoing professional development.
Prolonged standing, walking, use of senses; exposure to infectious diseases; physical, mental, and emotional stress; assisting with patient mobility; ability to lift up to 300 pounds.
Oncology experience preferred.
