Overview

Main Purpose of Job

This position merges information technology, communications and clinical informatics practice throughout the facility to improve patient/resident safety and outcomes by managing and translating data into useful information that supports all aspects of healthcare. This position expands the spectrum of data collection; increases the value of the data already obtained; and facilitates the analyses of the data into useful information. This position supervises the medical records department. This position is designated as the facility’s HIPAA Officer, Corporate Compliance Officer and Public Information Act Officer, mandating oversight of patient, protected and sensitive information.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Four years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include two years in the Medical option. One year of experience in the Medical option must have been in a supervisory, administrative, consultative or teaching capacity.
  • Notes:
    • Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s degree in Nursing or a health-related field for two years of the required general experience.
    • Candidates may substitute two years of additional experience as a Registered Nurse in the Medical option for the required education.
    • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience related to facilitating Quality Assurance and performance improvement projects including auditing, data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office, Google Suites, and web-based systems utilized for data reporting and regulatory compliance
  • Experience with electronic health records systems implementation and clinical workflows
Licenses, Registrations and Certifications
  • Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland Board of Nursing, or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence.
  • Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete training and maintain current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
