Job summary

The State of Maryland seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Nurse-Midwife to provide direct medical care under physician supervision at Deer's Head Hospital Center in Salisbury. You will work with a team to treat chronic and complex cases in a warm family atmosphere.

Experience in acute or long-term care, strong coordination skills, and the ability to collaborate with families and staff are highly valued. Pain management and complex case scheduling will be part of daily duties.

Qualifications

  • Current certificate as Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Midwife from the Maryland Board.
  • One year of experience as NP or NM; military service can substitute on a year-for-year basis.
  • Eligible to practice in Maryland with full licensure.

LOCATION OF POSITION

MDH, Deer's Head Hospital Center, Salisbury, MD

Main Purpose of Job

This position will work in collaboration with the Physicians to provide medical direction and provide quality medical care in a warm family atmosphere. This position provides direct medical care to chronically and severely ill patients whose condition represents complex medical and psychological disorders, including renally impaired, respiratory impaired, cardiac, stroke, diabetes, brain trauma, malignant disease, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses under the certification requirements for Nurse Practitioner or Nurse-Midwife.

Experience: One year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or as a Nurse-Midwife.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Midwife classification or Nurse Practitioner or Nurse-Midwife specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:

  • Experience in Acute Care and/or Long Term Acute care and/or clinically complex patients or residents in Skilled Nursing Facilities
  • Experience using verbal and written correspondence to collaborate with staff, residents, and families
  • Experience coordinating complex case workflows while streamlining daily operations and leveraging strong organizational skills to improve efficiency
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner or as a Nurse Midwife from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.
  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
