The Veterans Health Administration's Battle Creek VA Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) to lead QA and PI programs for the Community Living Center.

The RN will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, analyze quality measures, develop corrective action plans, and ensure survey readiness while applying LEAN approaches and HATCh principles to drive system improvements for Veterans and families.

Registered Nurse-Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI)

The Battle Creek VA Medical Center's Geriatric and Extended Care service is hiring an RN to serve as the Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) RN. This position ensures the delivery of high quality, evidence-based care to all Residents and their families by planning, coordinating, and implementing the quality management and quality improvement programs for the Community Living Center.

Key Responsibilities

Key Duties: Lead, coordinate, and implement quality management and performance improvement programs, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care to Veterans and their families across the continuum of care. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care based on age-specific components, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to drive process improvement initiatives and enhance patient outcomes.

Track, trend, and analyze clinical pathways and quality measures, developing action plans to address compliance, survey readiness, and opportunities for improvement. Chair and facilitate multidisciplinary meetings, participate in facility-wide committees, and represent the service in strategic planning and alignment with organizational goals.

Serve as a consultant and resource for staff regarding quality concerns, survey readiness, and program implementation, supporting continuous improvement and cultural transformation. Apply principles of the Holistic Approach to Transformational Change (HATCh) Model of Care and LEAN methodologies to foster high-functioning, relationship‑based teams and drive system redesign.

Support Home Based Primary Care and collaborate with leadership on corrective action plans, audits, and accreditation preparation. Demonstrate leadership in professional practice, mentoring, and education, expanding knowledge and fostering growth for self and others. Ensure compliance with privacy, security, and safety standards, maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff.

Provide care tailored to the age, developmental, and lifestyle needs of Veterans, promoting independence, safety, and optimal function. highly desirable candidates will have knowledge and experience in long term care survey processes, long term care quality metrics knowledge and experience, as well as home care joint commission knowledge. BSN or higher preferred.
