Roswell Park is seeking an RN for Pulmonary care at our Williamsville, NY practice. The role includes nursing assessments, patient education, medication administration, and coordination of pulmonary services. Mon-Fri schedule with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

The RN will follow physicians' orders, perform PFT testing, manage oxygen therapy, and provide discharge teaching within RPCI Oncology, PC guidelines.

Qualifikationen

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; one year of full-time nursing experience; respiratory/pulmonary experience preferred.
• Experience with EMR software and general computer skills (Windows/Office).
• Must hold NY RN license and BLS certification.

• Performs/monitors arterial/venous blood gas and vital signs.
• Administers medications and manages oxygen therapy as prescribed.

Plans and provides nursing interventions for individuals with respiratory or pulmonary related health care problems; treats human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as patient care, health teaching, and health counseling; executes medical regimens prescribed by a physician or other licensed health care provider authorized by the State of New York.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Follows orders written by a Physician or Nurse Practitioner.
• Completes respiratory assessment involving palpating, percussion, auscultating the thorax and lungs.
• Assess lab results including arterial and venous blood gas results.
• Assess vital signs.
• Prepare all medications following manufacturer guidelines - ie inhalers
• Perform respiratory interventions as needed such as suctioning.
• Patient education on discharge/post treatment
• Perform PFT testing; using equipment in safe manner.
• Manage and administer oxygen therapy.
• Phone triage
• Adheres to all the regulatory requirements and professional standards as applicable to the specific area of nursing practice
• Performs nursing assessment that includes the holistic needs of each patient with consideration of his/her physiological, psychological, social, ethnic, cultural, educational and spiritual strengths and needs. Includes the patient and family and/or support system in the planning and delivery of care
• Ensures that patient safety is a priority goal in the delivery of healthcare
• Provides direct patient care activities with other professional disciplines to ensure that the plan of nursing intervention is consistent with and integrated with the total treatment plan
• Demonstrates knowledge of and indications for dosage, route, action, side effects, contraindications, and adverse reactions of medication
• Provides health education/teaching for patients, their families, and/or designated significant others
• Confers with nursing staff and other members of the healthcare team regarding condition of patients and/or any unusual events or problems to ensure continuity of care
• Schedules patient appointments for treatment to include but not limited to, chemotherapy infusion, iron infusion, hydration, injections, etc.
• Adheres to the RPCI Oncology, PC standard for Employee Conduct

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• The equivalent of one (1) year of fulltime nursing experience.
• Respiratory, Pulmonary experience preferred.
• Experience with EMR software (Medent for example)
• Must have knowledge of Windows and Office software

CERTIFICATIONS/ LICENSES

• License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York
• BLS required
