Job summary

CalvertHealth is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse for our Behavioral Health unit. You will assess and plan nursing care according to department policies and provide behavioral health nursing to patients while maintaining required competencies.

The role requires a nursing degree (Diploma or AA) and an active Maryland license (compact allowed). Prior hospital and psych experience is preferred; strong communication and documentation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Diploma Nursing Program or an AA in Nursing or higher.
• Unexpired Maryland state nursing license or compact state license.
• RN certification in specialty, preferred.
• Minimum of one year hospital experience; psych experience preferred.
• Maintain unit-specific competencies and mandatory trainings per GA-057.
• Physically able to place patient in therapeutic hold or apply restraints.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel/Access/Word/Outlook).

Job description

To assess, plan, implement the nursing care to meet the patients’ needs, by following the appropriate policy and procedures of the assigned department.

To render behavioral nursing care to the patients on the behavioral health unit.

Education :

Position requires completion of a Diploma Nursing Program or an Associate Degree in Nursing (AA) or higher.

Registration/Certification/Licensure :

Unexpired state licensure from Maryland Board of Nursing or compact state board of nursing

Registered Nurse Certification in specialty, preferred

Experience :

Position requires minimum of one year hospital experience,would prefer Psych experience.

Other Requirements :

Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.

Physically able to place patient in therapeutic hold/apply mechanical restraints to potentially combative/acting out individuals.

Demonstrated proficiency of computer skills necessary to effectively complete position requirements to include Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Excel, Access, Word and Outlook.

Previous experience and demonstrated professionalism in effectively communicating with internal and external customers, both verbally and in writing, and in promoting a positive work atmosphere.

Ability to work independently, prioritize concurrent projects, meet deadlines, follow through with deliverables, and produce quality work.

Effectively communicates with all patient populations and staff by implementing organization-wide communication techniques as a daily practice.

Effectively advocates for quality patient safety and satisfaction as a daily practice.
