Job summary

Alexander Youth Network in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility to help children thrive.

You will monitor patients 24/7, manage medications, coordinate emergent care, educate Treatment Team and guardians, and adapt scheduling to meet unit needs. A current NC RN license and crisis experience are required, along with MS Office proficiency and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Valid and current RN licensure with NC Board of Nursing.
• At least 1 year of crisis experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Valid NC or SC Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Monitor milieu and all safety procedures in the PRTF environment.
• Administer medications and supervise medical treatments.
• Observe clients for health status changes and coordinate emergent care and transport.
• Collaborate with Guardians to ensure child health needs are met during placement.
• Provide healthcare education to Treatment Team, clients, families and partner programs.

RN staff must monitor the milieu and all restrictive interventions to ensure the safety and welfare of PRTF clients. RN staff promotes the use of the Neuro-sequential Model of Care; manage medication, medical treatments, observe clients for any health status changes, coordinate emergent care and transport, and collaborate with Guardians to ensure each client’s essential well-child healthcare needs are met during their placement in the PRTF; provide healthcare education to their PRTF Treatment Team members, clients, family members and other agency programs as needed, i.e. Medication Administration and Blood Borne Pathogen/Infection Control. Applies knowledge of child growth and development as it relates to the Neuro-sequential Model of Care; explains procedures and treatments to clients to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension through awareness of comfort and safety needs of client; demonstrates punctuality, dependability and on-call availability to work additional shifts; remains flexible to alter core scheduling when unexpected scheduling needs arise within the department; RN staff will flex to be included in the cottage or classroom ratio when the need arises.A full job description can be provided to interested/qualified candidates.Education AND ExperienceValid and current RN, NC licensure from N.C.
