Job summary

Baptist Health Corbin is seeking a Registered Nurse PRN for the Emergency Department. The ED is a Level IV trauma unit with 28 beds providing around-the-clock care for patients of all ages, including fast-track and behavioral health intake.

As an ED nurse, you will perform assessments, coordinate admissions and discharges, educate patients and families, and contribute to individualized care planning while maintaining compassionate, evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

  • Current RN licensure in Kentucky (or work permit).
  • Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
  • Basic life support certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS/PALS/NRP and completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care through assessments, treatments, and nursing rounds.
  • Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges for ED patients.
  • Deliver patient and family education and individualized care planning.
  • Support fast-track and behavioral health intake areas as needed.

Summary Job Description: Registered Nurse PRN, 1st Shift Emergency Department Baptist Health Corbin Emergency Department (ED) is a Level IV Trauma Designated unit with 28 beds that provides comprehensive, around-the-clock care to patients of all ages. The department treats a wide range of conditions, from non-emergent complaints to life-threatening illnesses and injuries. A dedicated split-flow area supports efficient evaluation and treatment of fast-track patients with lower acuity needs. Additionally, the ED includes a behavioral health intake area designed to safely assess and manage patients presenting mental health and behavioral health concerns. The Registered Nurse provides compassionate, evidence-based nursing care through assessment, treatment, care coordination, patient and family education, and individualized care planning while supporting admissions, transfers, and discharges.

Job Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person, and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness. The Registered Nurse (RN) is an exemplar for compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness. As a clinical nurse, this individual spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable, etc.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:
  • Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.
  • Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
  • Basic life support- Applicants will have 30 days from their hired date to provide completion of this certification if they don’t have it already.
  • ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment.
