Job Description - Registered Nurse Primary Stroke Center Full Time Nights (2406003559)

Unit Specializes in: 1 West is the designated stroke unit with 12 telemetry beds. It occasionally handles overflow of patients with diagnoses such as AMS, Syncope, DM, seizure, and stroke. RNs are trained in EKG interpretation. RN ratios are 1:6 with acuity-based assignments. EKG training and NIH certification are required.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) at the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) is a vital member of the Patient Care Services Team. The RN is responsible for the delivery of nursing care by managing and providing activities for a group of patients and their families, utilizing independent judgment, and collaborating with team members including ancillary and support services. The RN's role encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, teaching, and supervision.

Responsibilities include:

• Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with physicians and healthcare providers
• Delegating, assessing, providing, and evaluating patient care
• Providing and delegating patient care activities to team members
• Monitoring patient progress and preparing patients for discharge
• Reporting to senior management and participating in shared decision-making

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited nursing school
• BSN preferred
• Licensed to practice as an RN in Michigan
• American Heart Association BLS certification
