Job summary

Cayuga Health’s Prep & Recovery Unit is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to care for patients undergoing anesthesia and recovering from surgery. You will monitor vital signs, assess consciousness, and ensure safe, responsive care throughout recovery.

Required ADN and NY RN license; BLS/ACLS/PALS to be obtained during the introductory period. 6–12 months critical care or 1 year recovery experience preferred; part-time, onsite shifts in Ithaca.

• Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) and NY RN license.
• BLS, ACLS & PALS to be obtained during introductory period.
• 6–12 months critical care experience or 1 year recovery experience.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients receiving anesthesia and those recovering from anesthesia.

They monitor pre and post-operation vital signs, assess levels of consciousness, and carefully observe patients for any side effects from anesthesia.Roles and Responsibilities:Demonstrates ability to effectively prioritize both expected and unanticipated needsEvaluates effectiveness of care giving, shows follow through on delivery, and demonstrates critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, proactively addressing potential and actual problems, and executing compliant clinical documentation.Performs and documents an accurate assessment on each assigned patient within established standard of care.Able to recognize priorities within patient care and act accordingly.Ability to problem solve and communicate accordingly.Required Skills and Experience:Associates Degree in NursingActive New York State RN licenseWill obtain BLS, ACLS & PALS during introductory period6-12 months critical care experience or 1 year recovery experiencePreferred Skills and Experience:BSNCPANRemember: A candidate is not required to have a preferred skill to be considered qualified for a role.Physical Requirements: Able to lift 20 pounds. Ability to stand for long periods.Location, Travel and Shift Requirements:Onsite at Cayuga Medical CenterLess than 25% travel expected in this rolePart Time Days/Evenings3 - 10 or 2 -13 hour variable shifts. Unit operates 5a-10p.Self-scheduling weekday call in a 6 week period, call hours 9p-7a. One weekend 24 hour call shift in a 6 week period based on a rotation.
