Job summary

Cayuga Health’s Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY is seeking a part-time Prep & Recovery RN to support patients receiving anesthesia and recovering from anesthesia after surgery. You will monitor pre- and post-operative vital signs, assess consciousness, and observe for anesthesia side effects.

The position is onsite with 5a-10p operations, weekend call rotations, and 3- or 4-shift patterns per week. Pay ranges from $38.63 to $47.18 per hour plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Nursing
• Active New York State RN license
• Will obtain BLS, ACLS & PALS during introductory period 6-12 months critical care experience or 1 year recovery experience

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates ability to effectively prioritize both expected and unanticipated needs
• Evaluates effectiveness of care giving, shows follow through on delivery, and demonstrates critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, proactively addressing potential and actual problems, and executing compliant clinical documentation
• Performs and documents an accurate assessment on each assigned patient within established standard of care
• Able to recognize priorities within patient care and act accordingly
• Ability to problem solve and communicate accordingly

Education

Registered Nurse - Prep & Recovery

The Prep & Recovery Unit RN cares for patients who will be receiving anesthetic care and who are recovering from anesthesia after surgery. They monitor pre and post-operation vital signs, assess levels of consciousness, and carefully observe patients for any side effects from anesthesia.

Required Skills and Experience

• Associates Degree in Nursing

• Remember: A candidate is not required to have a preferred skill to be considered qualified for a role

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift 20 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring patients may involve lifting of up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand for long periods

Location, Travel and Shift Requirements

• Onsite at Cayuga Medical Center
• Less than 25% travel expected in this role
• Part Time Days/Evenings 3 - 10 or 2 -13 hour variable shifts. Unit operates 5a-10p
• Self-scheduling weekday call in a 6 week period, call hours 9p-7a
• One weekend 24 hour call shift in a 6 week period based on a rotation
• Some holiday call

Pay Range Disclosure

Standard Rate of $38.63 - $47.18 per hour plus benefits
