Job summary

Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, part of Cayuga Health, is seeking a Registered Nurse for Prep & Recovery to care for patients receiving anesthesia and recovering from anesthesia after surgery. You will monitor vital signs, document assessments, and respond to changes with sound clinical judgment.

The role offers onsite shifts, 4–10 or 3–13 hours, and a 5a–10p unit schedule. Experience in CCU or recovery is valued; BLS/ACLS/PALS will be obtained during the introductory period.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Nursing.
• Active New York State RN license.
• Will obtain BLS, ACLS & PALS during introductory period.
• 6-12 months critical care experience or 1 year recovery experience.
• BSN and CPAN are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents an accurate assessment on each assigned patient within established standard of care.
• Evaluates effectiveness of care delivery, shows follow through, and demonstrates critical thinking in decisions.
• Recognizes priorities within patient care and acts accordingly.
• Ability to problem solve and communicate accordingly.

Unit operates 5a-10p.Self-scheduling weekday call in a 6 week period, call hours 9p-7a. One weekend 24 hour call shift in a 6 week period based on a rotation.
