Job summary

Cayuga Health in Ithaca, NY is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Prep & Recovery unit. The RN cares for patients receiving anesthesia and recovering post-operatively, monitoring vitals and potential anesthesia side effects.

Roles include prioritizing patient needs, documenting care, and performing accurate assessments. Requires NY RN license; BLS/ACLS/PALS to be obtained during intro period; 6–12 months CCU or 1 year recovery experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Nursing.
• Active New York State RN license.
• Will obtain BLS, ACLS & PALS during introductory period.
• 6–12 months critical care experience or 1 year recovery experience.

Registered Nurse - Prep & Recovery
The Prep & Recovery Unit RN cares for patients who will be receiving anesthetic care and who are recovering from anesthesia after surgery. They monitor pre and post-operation vital signs, assess levels of consciousness, and carefully observe patients for any side effects from anesthesia.
Roles And Responsibilities

• Demonstrates ability to effectively prioritize both expected and unanticipated needs
• Evaluates effectiveness of care giving, shows follow through on delivery, and demonstrates critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, proactively addressing potential and actual problems, and executing compliant clinical documentation.
• Performs and documents an accurate assessment on each assigned patient within established standard of care.
• Able to recognize priorities within patient care and act accordingly
• Ability to problem solve and communicate accordingly.
  

Required Skills And Experience

• Associates Degree in Nursing
• Active New York State RN license
• Will obtain BLS, ACLS & PALS during introductory period
• 6-12 months critical care experience or 1 year recovery experience

Pay Range Disclosure

• Standard Rate of $38.63 - $47.18 per hour plus benefits
