Idaho Falls Community Hospital is looking for a PreOp/PACU Registered Nurse to join our team!

Job Summary

The Pre-Op/Admitting nurse provides nursing care to patients being admitted for surgery. Responsibilities include assessing, identifying, and solving nursing care and pre-operative problems, starting and monitoring IVs, administering pre-operative medications, and providing pre-operative instructions. The PACU nurse provides care to patients returning from surgery, assisting with transition from anesthesia to wakefulness, maintaining ventilation, hemostasis, circulation, assessing consciousness, managing pain, and ensuring patient safety until transfer.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain readiness of area and equipment.
• Assess physical and emotional needs, complete pre-assessment records, including allergies, medications, medical history, consent, and lab results.
• Respect patient privacy and dignity.
• Assist with patient undressing and belongings.
• Assess vital signs, weight, height, blood glucose, pregnancy test, and start IVs as ordered.
• Perform pre-operative instructions and ensure patient meets anesthesia requirements.
• Set priorities for patient flow and carry out physician and anesthesia orders.
• Record patient information accurately.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: Graduate of an accredited nursing school, RN licensure in Idaho, current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

Experience: Two years of Critical Care or PACU experience preferred.

Equipment/Technology: Basic computer knowledge.
