Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Uptown in Dallas is seeking an experienced PreOp/PACU Registered Nurse to provide continuous, high-quality perioperative care from anesthesia recovery through discharge. You will monitor patients, assist surgeons and anesthesia teams, and ensure safety and privacy throughout the PACU.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN program.
• Active RN license in the state.
• BLS and ACLS required, PALS if required by the center.
• 2 years experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred.
• Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
• Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet patient needs.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous, high-quality nursing care for all patients in PreOp/PACU with ongoing evaluation of condition, safety and privacy.
• Monitor patient status and respond to changes promptly; support patients emerging from anesthesia or sedation.
• Assist physicians in procedure rooms with sterile technique as deemed appropriate and with conscious sedation as needed.
• Perform assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care and discharge planning from PACU.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient perioperative flow.

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center- Uptown provides a wide range of medical and surgical services for the greater North Texas area across 8 ORs, 24 private Inpatient rooms, a full-service ED. The hospital specializes in both inpatient and outpatient procedures in Orthopedics, Joint Replacement, Spine, General, Bariatrics, Surgical Oncology, ENT, Reconstructive Surgery, and other surgical specialties.

The PreOp/PACU Registered Nurse provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient's condition, providing patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. May assist the physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, conscious sedation, and utilizing sterile techniques as deemed appropriate. Will provide total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation; assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge
