Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Surgicare Mansfield is hiring a Registered Nurse Preop/Pacu to provide continuity and quality care for preop and PACU patients. The role emphasizes patient safety, comfort, and privacy with support for physicians in the procedure rooms, including conscious sedation and sterile technique.

The RN will manage post-anesthesia needs across surgical specialties, requiring ACLE critical thinking, prioritization, and strong communication.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
  • Active RN license in the state (Texas).
  • BLS and ACLS Required, PALS if required by the center.
  • 2 years of experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred.
  • Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
  • Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet patient needs.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuity and quality nursing care for all patients in PreOp/PACU with ongoing evaluation of condition.
  • Assist physicians in procedure rooms with tasks including conscious sedation and sterile techniques as appropriate.
  • Deliver total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from anesthesia or sedation; assess, plan, implement and evaluate for discharge.
  • Work across specialties including General, Robotic, Colon & Rectal, ENT, Gastroenterology, Orthopedics, Urology, Gynecology, Spine, and Pain Management.

The PreOp/PACU Registered Nurse provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient's condition, providing patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. May assist the physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, including conscious sedation, and utilizing sterile techniques as deemed appropriate. Will provide total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation; assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge. Experienced in surgical procedures in the following specialties: General, Robotic, Colon & Rectal Surgery, ENT, Gastroenterology, Orthopedics, Podiatry, Urology, Gynecology, Spine, and Pain Management.
