Job summary

UCSF Health in Burlingame, CA is seeking an experienced PACU/Perioperative RN to prepare patients for surgery, assess care using ASC criteria, and recover patients after procedures. You will participate in procedural sedation and care for patients emerging from anesthesia.

The role requires seven years of PACU experience, proficiency with general, regional and local anesthesia recovery, and flexibility to work at multiple UCSF locations including ambulatory surgery sites.

Qualifications

• Must have seven (7) years or more recent nursing experience recovering patients in multi-specialty PACU.
• Experience in critical care settings (Adult SICU/ED) considered.
• Experience with general, regional, and local anesthesia recovery.
• Ability to work variable days/shifts, including closing shift.
• Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center and ambulatory surgery locations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for surgery and assess care using ASC criteria.
• Recover patients after procedures in PACU.
• Participate in procedural sedation cases.
• Care for patients emerging from anesthesia and monitor recovery.
• Work across UCSF locations including ambulatory surgery sites.

Prepares patients for surgery and procedures utilizing the ASC’s patient selection criteria to assess and care for the patient. Recovers patients after the procedure or surgery. Participates in procedural sedation cases.Knowledge and experience in the care of patients who have received sedation, regional anesthesia and/or general anesthesia. Recent experience with care of patients emerging from all forms of anesthesia and the risks associated. Knowledge of Aldrete scoring and discharge criteria.The pre-op and PACU RN work both in pre-op and post-operative phase one and two of recovery.The nurse will work at all UCSF locations including ambulatory surgery sites.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Seven (7) years or more recent nursing experience recovering patients in multi-specialty inpatient/outpatient Adult Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (excludes procedural experience).


• Will consider seven (7) years or more recent nursing experience in critical care (Adult SICU, Adult ED).


• Must have experience with general, regional, and local anesthesia recovery of patients.


• Must be able to work variable days/shifts including closing shift.


• This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center and ambulatory surgery center locations.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.


• Current healthcare provider CPR certification.
