Job summary

Indiana University Health's Plastic Surgery ambulatory team seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to provide triage, direct patient care, patient and family education, and perioperative support. You will assist with in-office procedures, sterile field setup, and postoperative follow-up, while documenting care and coordinating with the Plastic Surgeon and Advanced Practice Provider.

This is a Monday–Friday position 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with no weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements, and a

• BLS certification required; additional life support certifications may be required per department policies.
• Minimum two years of RN experience; new graduates may be considered with relevant clinical experience subject to CNO review.

Responsibilities

• Provide triage and direct patient care during ambulatory plastic surgery visits.
• Educate patients and families; coordinate care with surgeons and APPs.
• Assist with in‑office procedures, sterile setup, drain removals, and tissue expander management.
• Administer medications and document care; ensure accurate postoperative follow‑up.

Join our specialized Plastic Surgery team as a Registered Nurse and play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care throughout the surgical journey. In this rewarding ambulatory role, you will work closely with a Plastic Surgeon and Advanced Practice Provider, providing triage, direct patient care, patient and family education, pre- and post-operative support, medication administration, recovery monitoring, and accurate documentation. You will assist with in-office procedures, sterile field setup, drain removals, tissue expanders, Botox and filler treatments, and follow-up care while building meaningful relationships with a diverse patient population and delivering inclusive, compassionate care to individuals from all backgrounds. This opportunity is ideal for an RN with at least 2-3 years of experience in triage, pre- and post-operative care, and direct patient care who has an interest in surgical nursing and patient advocacy. Qualifications:

• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of relevant clinical experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
• May require ability to assess patients without face-to-face interaction.
• Requires awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.

The Ambulatory Registered Nurse (RN) serves as the primary clinical nurse for the Plastic Surgery practice. This role works closely with the Plastic Surgeon, Advanced Practice Providers, and interdisciplinary care team to coordinate and deliver high-quality patient care throughout the continuum of care. The RN is responsible for patient assessment, triage, clinical decision-making, care coordination, procedural support, patient education, medication administration, documentation, and postoperative follow-up. The RN plays a critical role in ensuring positive patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, and efficient clinic operations.
