Job summary

IU Health in Bloomington seeks an experienced RN to join the General Surgery Ambulatory team. You will perform triage, educate patients, manage wound care, document care, and assist with surgical needs and in-office procedures.

The role offers flexibility with four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts, and may involve travel to Bedford. Eligible candidates have 1+ year of RN experience and Indiana RN licensure.

Qualifications

  • ASN required; BSN preferred.
  • Active RN license in Indiana or NLC RN license.
  • RN must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification mandatory.
  • May require additional advanced life support per unit policy.
  • Ability to assess patients with or without face-to-face interaction and awareness of legal implications.

Responsibilities

  • Nurse triage, patient education, wound care, and documentation.
  • Order entry and assisting with surgical patient needs.
  • Support in-office procedures in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

Join our General Surgery Ambulatory team in Bloomington, where you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care alongside a collaborative team of 6 providers and 5 APPs. In this dynamic clinic setting, RNs are involved in nurse triage, patient education, wound care, documentation, order entry, assisting with surgical patient needs, and supporting in-office procedures. This full-time position offers a flexible schedule of either four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts, based on department needs, with clinic hours Monday through Friday. Candidates should have at least one year of RN experience and enjoy working in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment. This role is based at our Bloomington location with occasional travel to Bedford as needed, providing an excellent opportunity to expand your skills while making a meaningful impact on the surgical patient journey.

Qualifications:

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
    Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of relevant clinical experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • May require ability to assess patients without face-to-face interaction.
  • Requires awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.
