Job Summary

Utilizing the nursing process, responsible for providing immediate and long-term nursing care needs of patients within the standards of the department, hospital, and regulatory agencies.

Essential Functions
  1. Accurately assesses patients’ needs.
  2. Utilizes multiple data sources to determine actual/potential health problems and functional status.
  3. Uses Recovery Oriented Framework to identify patient strengths.
  4. Performs point of care testing.
  5. Communicates findings effectively to healthcare team members.
  6. Documents responses to interventions and patients’ responses to treatments.
  7. Identifies behaviors contributing to crises; uses techniques to de-escalate.
  8. Plans nursing interventions for patients.
  9. Modifies and individualizes Nursing Plan of Care and protocols.
  10. Participates in multidisciplinary treatment planning.
  11. Prioritizes patient care needs effectively.
  12. Partners with patients/families to support recovery goals.
  13. Provides and implements nursing care interventions.
  14. Establishes therapeutic alliances with patients.
  15. Administers medications safely and accurately using BMV scanning.
  16. Reviews physician orders promptly.
  17. Promotes least-restrictive interventions aligned with recovery goals.
  18. Participates in leading patient groups.
  19. Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions.
  20. Documents care responses accurately.
  21. Communicates clinical status during rounds and shift changes.
  22. Uses evidence-based nursing knowledge for practice decisions.
  23. Provides leadership in organizing patient care.
  24. Supervises and directs MHSs.
  25. Delegates care interventions appropriately.
  26. Leads in emergencies and promotes de-briefings.
  27. Trains and educates healthcare team members.
  28. Provides health teaching to patients and families.
  29. Documents teaching activities.
  30. Maintains professional growth and competency.
  31. Completes mandatory training and seeks feedback for improvement.
  32. Communicates effectively, maintaining privacy and professionalism.
  33. Contributes to hospital productivity and cost management.
Qualifications

Education: Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred; no experience required, one year medical/psychiatric experience preferred.

Licenses and Credentials: Registered Nurse (RN) license required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong communication skills, ability to utilize nursing process, and collaborate effectively.
