Summary
Utilizing the nursing process, responsibility for providing for immediate and long-term nursing care needs of patients within the standards of the department, hospital and regulatory agencies.

-Accurately plans nursing interventions for assigned patients.
-1Modifies and individualizes Nursing Plan of Care and protocols.
-2Participates in the development of the multidisciplinary treatment plan.
-3Demonstrates ability to prioritize patient care needs.
-4Partners with patients/families to support recovery goals.
-Provides and implements nursing care interventions.
-1Establishes a therapeutic alliance with assigned patients.
-2Demonstrates safe, accurate and timely medication administration using BMV scanning.
-3 Reviews physician orders in a timely manner.
-4Promotes interventions that provide the least-restrictive alternatives and recovery oriented goals.

-Accurately evaluates the effectiveness of nursing care interventions.
-1Documentation on the Nursing Plan of Care, protocols, and Assessment Flowsheet reflects response to intervention, demonstrates an understanding of patients' response to treatment interventions.
-2Accurately communicates patients' clinical status at clinical team rounds and change of shift reports.
-3 Utilizes evidence based nursing knowledge to guide practice decisions.
-Provides a leadership role in organizing and providing patient care.
-1Provides direction and supervision of MHSs.
-Delegate care interventions.
-2Assumes a leadership role in medical and psychiatric emergencies.
-3Promotes/provides for critical incident de-briefing following emergency event.
-4Anticipates acute milieu problems and delegates staff appropriately.
-5Participates in the training and education of RNs, MHSs, and other healthcare providers.
-Provides for teaching needs of patient and significant others.
-1 Provides health teaching related to patient needs and recovery goals.
-2 Documents teaching in the patient's record.
-3 Informs treatment team of patient and significant others' learning needs.
-Maintains a commitment to professional growth and competency.
-1Completes mandatory in-service requirements.

Education
Other Certificate/Diploma Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred
