Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse to deliver evidence-based nursing care across the care continuum in Indianapolis. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while coordinating with the multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.

The role emphasizes teaching, mentoring, and collaboration to advance the patient plan of care and enhance operational efficiency. RN licensure in Indiana or NLC and BLS certification are required.

Qualifications

• ASN or BSN; BSN preferred.
• Active RN license in Indiana or an active NLC RN license.
• Graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program; exceptions for >2 years acute care experience.
• BLS certification through the AHA is required.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate competent, evidence-based nursing care along the care continuum.
• Engage in assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to advance patient plans and outcomes.

Job description

The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency. The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.

• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
