Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Clinical Nurse to provide and coordinate evidence-based nursing care across the care continuum in alignment with our mission and standards.

The RN will participate in decision-making with the multidisciplinary team, deliver teaching and mentoring, and work to advance the patient plan of care while improving outcomes and operational efficiency. Requires active Indiana RN license and BLS; further ALS certifications may be required by units.

Qualifications

• ASN or BSN required/prioritized.
• Active RN license in Indiana or NLC.
• RN must be a graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Exceptions considered for those with >2 years of acute care experience; subject to CNO review.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the AHA.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department policies.

• Provide and coordinate competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Participate in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

• Adhere to ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and Code of Ethics for Nurses.
• Ensure compliance with organizational ethics, compliance policies, guidelines, and regulatory standards.

Job description

The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency. The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.

• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
