Children’s Wisconsin in Milwaukee is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the wound, ostomy and skin care team in our pediatric inpatient hospital setting.

This 0.8 FTE role covers 4 shifts per week, with a focus on coordinating patient care, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring high-quality outcomes for children and their families.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree BSN preferred.
  • 2+ years nursing experience required.
  • 3-4 years pediatric nursing experience preferred.
  • Wound Ostomy certification preferred.
  • BLS Healthcare Provider required.
  • RN license Wisconsin required.

Responsibilities

  • Partner in wound/skin/ostomy care team and coordinate patient care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and communicate with patients and families.
  • Delegate patient activities as appropriate.
  • Evaluate quality outcomes and participate in quality improvement.

RN Role

The RN in this role will join our team who provides care and management of wound and ostomy needs throughout the pediatric inpatient hospital setting!

  • Responsibilities include being a partner in the wound/skin/ostomy care team, providing coordination and management of patient care to pediatric patients and families within a continuum of care, and delegating patient activities as appropriate.
  • The position requires collaboration with interdisciplinary health care teams, communication with patients, family and staff, and evaluation of quality outcomes.

Details: 32 hours per week (0.8 FTE) Days: 4 days per week (8 hour shifts) Monday and Fridays are sometimes required Location: Milwaukee Hospital Benefits available!

Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing required Bachelor’s Degree BSN preferred

Experience: 2+ years nursing experience required 3-4 years nursing experience in pediatric nursing preferred

Wound and Ostomy certification through the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society preferred*

BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required

Essential Functions

Uses critical thinking and nursing skills in caring for patients and families which are acquired through a process of integrating education, experiential knowledge and evidence-based guidelines. Develops, implements and evaluates a plan of care that is collaborative and addresses the needs of the patient and family resulting in optimal patient outcomes. Responds to the uniqueness of patients and families by providing and coordinating care that meets those needs. Creates a compassionate therapeutic environment to promote comfort and prevent suffering. Acts within professional boundaries as per ANA code of ethics and organization code of conduct. Recognizes, appreciates, and incorporates differences in the provision of care. Utilizes communication skills that are respectful and non-discriminatory in a manner that is therapeutic for both the patient and the family. Incorporates patient/family values, cultural beliefs, and religious preferences in the nursing plan of care. Questions and evaluates practice, and participates in supporting or determining changes in clinical practice within the professional practice model. Seeks and applies best evidence/research in practice. Participates in continuous quality improvement to deliver safe, quality nursing care, enhance patient/family satisfaction, and improve individual skills/practice.
