Mercy invites applications for a Pediatric Emergency Medicine RN to join the DAYS shift. The role uses the nursing process to deliver direct patient care, with accountability for each patient’s care and collaboration with other departments to coordinate services.

Responsibilities include upholding patient rights and privacy within Mercy Service Standards. Education requirements include ADN with BSN preferred for new hires; nurses without a BSN must complete it within five years.

Position Details:

Associates Degree: ADN required. Current employees hired before Sept 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role and 1-2 yrs of experience is preferred. Bachelors Degree: Preferred for all nurses hired after Sept 1, 2013. Nurses hired after this date without a BSN must complete degree within 5 years of their hire date. No experience necessary. On the job training is provided. Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN). Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)
• S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules
• C-EFM (Fetal Monitor Certification)
• Other unit-specific certifications as required

Physical Requirements

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
