This clinical integration establishes a robust system of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community.

This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for physician offices, clinics, a community space, a 500-car garage and a helipad for emergency transports.

We are seeking an experienced Pediatric Emergency Registered Nurse (Part Time-Nights)

Our ideal candidate provides compassionate, high-quality emergency nursing care to infants, children, adolescents, and young adult patients in a fast-paced Pediatric Emergency Department setting. The Pediatric Emergency Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for a wide range of urgent and emergent conditions. This role requires strong clinical judgment, rapid decision-making, and the ability to remain calm under pressure while delivering safe, family-centered care. The Pediatric ED RN collaborates closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and ancillary staff to ensure timely treatment, stabilization, and discharge or admission planning. Responsibilities include triage, medication administration, IV starts, monitoring patient responses, assisting with emergency procedures, patient/family education, and maintaining accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.

Job Duties / Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, age-appropriate nursing care to infants, children, adolescents, and pediatric patients in the emergency setting.

  • Perform rapid assessments, triage patients, and prioritize care based on acuity level.

  • Initiate emergency interventions for trauma, respiratory distress, seizures, dehydration, infections, and other urgent conditions.

  • Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and treatments safely in accordance with provider orders.

  • Monitor patient condition, vital signs, pain levels, and response to treatment; report changes promptly.

  • Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with procedures such as splinting, suturing, sedation, and resuscitation.

  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, radiology, lab, case management, and security.

  • Ensure a safe, clean, and child-friendly environment while supporting infection prevention standards.

  • Participate in pediatric codes, trauma activations, and disaster/emergency preparedness events.

  • Serve as an advocate for patients and families while delivering compassionate, family-centered care.

  • Precept new staff and support quality improvement, patient safety, and departmental initiatives.
