Position Overview

Provides direct patient care to pediatric patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Supervises, teaches, and delegates to other personnel in the performance of activities related to nursing care.

Reports to: RN-Nurse Manager--Women's Services

Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree Required; Bachelor Degree Preferred
• License: Current state RN license or multistate compact license; degree from an accredited nursing school
• Certifications: BCLS within 90 days of hire; ACLS and PALS within 6 months of hire

Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Essential Functions

1. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that ensures patient safety and minimizes medical errors.
2. Formulates and revises individualized care plans based on patient response, evaluating their effectiveness daily.
3. Monitors, records, and communicates patient conditions appropriately to the care team, provider, patient, and family.
4. Collaborates across disciplines for patient transfer, discharge, referral, and psychosocial support.
5. Assesses learning needs of patients and families, providing education tailored to their age, culture, and condition.
6. Acts as an advocate for the patient's physical and emotional well-being, protecting their rights.
