Job summary

Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, TX is seeking a Progressive Care Registered Nurse (PCU RN) for Per Diem shifts. The PCU RN provides specialized care to patients requiring close monitoring, telemetry assessment, and timely interventions.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Utilize telemetry to monitor cardiac rhythms and other parameters; recognize abnormalities.
• Administer medications as directed and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Perform nursing interventions and treatments such as wound care, catheter care, and oxygen therapy.
• Adhere to hospital policies, infection control, and safety protocols.

Location: Dallas Regional Medical Center – Mesquite, TX

We are seeking a P rogressive Care Registered Nurse or PCU RN , internally referred to as our Progressive Care Nurse . In the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), the PCU RN or Step-Down RN will provide specialized care to patients with acute and/or chronic medical conditions who require close monitoring, i ntervention, and support to optimize their outcomes and facilitate their transition to lower levels of care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments of patients' conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, respiratory status, and overall clinical stability, you will need to monitor changes in patients' conditions and respond promptly to any deterioration
• Utilize telemetry and other monitoring devices to continuously monitor patients' cardiac rhythms, oxygen saturation levels, blood pressure, and other parameters you must be able to recognize and interpret abnormalities in monitoring data
• Administer medications as directed by physicians, encompassing intravenous medications, antibiotics, pain management medications, and cardiac medications, while vigilantly monitoring patients for any adverse reactions or side effects
• Perform nursing interventions and treatments as ordered by physicians, such as wound care, catheter care, suctioning, and administration of oxygen therapy, which may include assisting with procedures
• Adhere to evidence-based practice guidelines, hospital policies, and protocols related to patient care, infection control, and safety

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.

Additional Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred.

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus

• Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
• Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
