Job summary

Odessa Regional Medical Center in Odessa, TX, seeks a PACU Registered Nurse to care for patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery in our Post Anesthesia Care Unit. You will monitor vital signs, assess consciousness, administer pain and antiemetic medications, watch for bleeding or arrhythmias, and educate patients and families on post-operative care before transferring them to the next destination.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• PALS preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Check vital signs (BP, HR, RR, SpO2, temp).
• Assess level of consciousness and orientation.
• Administer medications for pain and nausea.
• Monitor for bleeding, hypotension, or arrhythmias.
• Dress wounds and assess drains.
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care.
• Update surgeons/anesthesiologists on patient status.
• Transfer patients to next destination, typically within hours.

Job Summary:

As an PACU Registered Nurse, you will care for patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery in a Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).

• Check blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and temperature
• Check the patient's level of consciousness and orientation
• Administer medications to treat pain and nausea
• Look for signs of bleeding, low blood pressure, or arrhythmias
• Dress wounds and assess drains
• Teach patients and their families about post-operative care
• Update surgeons and anesthesiologists on the patient's condition
• Transfer patients to the next destination, usually within a few hours

Qualifications:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• PALS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
