Position: RN - Recovery/PACU

Provides direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Meets the physical, psychosocial, religious/cultural, and needs of the patient and family. Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team about changes in the patient’s condition or response to treatment. Requires basic PC skills. Must be able to work on a smoke-free campus. Needs to be flexible, organized, and able to function under stressful situations.

Reports to: Director of Surgery

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; current RN licensure in lieu of degree accepted. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licenses & Certifications: Current RN license to practice in AR; BLS and ACLS certifications required.

Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently, and in stressful environments.

Essential Functions

1. Performs duties as assigned and requested.
2. Conducts focused patient assessments with reassessments based on condition, procedures, medications, and treatments.
3. Assesses and reassesses pain and utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
4. Provides patient care and communicates effectively with patients of all ages and needs.
5. Knowledge of medication administration, following the 6 rights to minimize errors.
6. Assists physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical skills.
7. Performs treatments within licensure scope.
8. Ensures patient safety and reduces errors in all aspects of care.
9. Operates equipment safely and correctly.
10. Educates patients and families on disease processes.
