Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking an experienced PACU RN with strong patient assessment and clinical skills. You will monitor patients after anesthesia, manage pain and nausea, and respond quickly to changes in condition. Schedule includes 36 hours per week with on-call rotation and weekend shifts, plus 9-hour day shifts.

You will administer medications, document care, and collaborate with the care team to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes. RN licensure in IL and CPR/BLS are required; BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• ADN required at hire; BSN preferred.
• Licensed as an RN in state of practice.
• CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days.
• Other unit certifications per requirements (ACLS, PALS, etc.).
• On-call rotation and weekends specified in schedule.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team to care for patients.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments per policies and standards.
• Documents according to standards of care.
• Performs assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care.
• Develops and executes a patient plan of care with physician guidance.
• Participates in performance improvement and peer review processes.
• Escalates patient safety concerns to the appropriate chain of command.
• Engages in professional nursing continuum and unit activities.

Strong team player committed to safe, quality patient care.Schedule: 36 hours per week; On-Call Rotation [approximately 1-2 call shifts per week and every 4-6 weekends]Shift: 9-hour Day ShiftsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESUtilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws practice act.Documents according to standards of care.Performs assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care.Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.Utilizes clinical expertise and guidance to other units’ departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care.Utilizes critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command.Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions and peer review process.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEGraduate of an accredited nursing program.ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred.May require specific years of applicable experience to qualify (per department guidelines)CERTIFICATION/LICENSURELicensed as an RN in state of practiceApproved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 daysOther certification(s) per unit requirements.
