Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a 22-bed post-surgical unit (3 North) focused on orthopedics, spine, bariatric, and urology. The RN delivers safe, patient-centered care and coordinates with interdisciplinary teams while upholding Mercy's mission and Service Standards.

Education and licensure are required, with an RN license in the hiring state or compact licensure; multiple certifications may be required depending on the unit.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an approved school of nursing (AD/ Diploma/ BSN).
• Current RN licensure in the hiring state or compact licensure.
• Current or soon-to-be certification per unit requirements (BLS/CPHON, etc.).
• Physical ability to perform duties (lift 50 lbs, prolonged standing/walking).

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care using the nursing process for assigned patients.
• Evaluate care effectiveness and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams.
• Uphold patient rights, confidentiality, and Mercy Service Standards.
• Support post-surgical unit care for orthopedics/spine/bariatric/urology patients.

The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care while maintaining professional accountability for assigned patients. The RN evaluates the effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers and coordinates patient care collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams. This position upholds patient rights, maintains confidentiality, and performs all duties in alignment with Mercy’s mission, values, and Service Standards.

With a strong focus on orthopedics, spine, bariatric, and urology services, 3 North offers the opportunity to utilize advanced clinical skills, collaborate with a highly engaged care team, and make a meaningful impact on patient recovery.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).

Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

Certifications: Basic Life Support certification or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire. One or more of the certifications below may be required based on the position/unit hired to, or acquisition of certification within department-required timeframe:

• ACLS/ALS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• CPHON (Certified Pediatric/Hematology/Oncology Nurses)
• OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)
• S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules
• C-EFM (Fetal Monitor Certification)
• Other unit-specific certifications as required.

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
