Job summary

ND Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCR) seeks an RN or LPN to join the infirmary team at James River Correctional Center in Jamestown, ND. This float position requires flexibility to cover morning, evening, and night shifts and occasional travel to the ND State Penitentiary in Bismarck.

You will dispense medications, provide emergency nursing care, support infection control, document care in the EHR, and deliver wellness education to male residents.

Qualifications

• Ability to successfully complete standard background, criminal record check, and drug screening

Be a critical part of our efforts to transform lives, influence change and strengthen our community as an RN or LPN with the ND Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCR).

Education

As a member of our medical team, you will work various shifts in an infirmary setting, providing a holistic approach to health care services to the male residents within a medium custody facility. The focus of your work will be on health maintenance and patient education. Every day you will:

• Dispense medication
• Provide emergency nursing care
• Support infection control initiatives
• Document patient care in the EHR system
• Deliver individual and group wellness education

This position is a float based in Jamestown. As a float, you must be able to travel occasionally on limited notice to the ND State Penitentiary in Bismarck for your shift.

To be successful in this position, you must be willing to work with a resident population daily, demonstrating respect and dignity for all in your care. You connect easily with all kinds of people and can shift fluidly from task to task. You are interested in innovations in health care especially how it relates to a residential population. Also, you prefer to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Location: This position is located onsite at the James River Correctional Center in Jamestown (JRCC), North Dakota. JRCC is a medium custody facility that house male residents. The JRCC mission is to provide a safe environment to learn and practice skills necessary to be successful in the community. On occasion, this position will be assigned to the ND State Penitentiary in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Shift: The nursing team follows shift scheduling - mornings, evenings and nights and must be able to work holidays and weekends on a rotating basis.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for the RN or LPN position, you must have the following:

• Licensure by the ND Board of Nursing
• Strong clinical skills
• Ability to work a variety of shifts including nights, holidays and weekends
• Ability to complete successfully standard background, criminal record check, and drug screening

Psychiatric, medical surgical, and critical care experience is preferred, but not required.
