Job summary

American Geriatrics Society in Chicago, IL is seeking an RN for the Operating Room. This full-time role involves day shifts (3 am – 11:30 pm) with call requirements, working Monday through Friday. The position requires current Illinois nursing licensure, CPR, and readiness to obtain ACLS/PALS as unit needs arise.

The role emphasizes high standards of asepsis, patient safety, and collaborative team care. Experience in operating room nursing and the ability to supervise colleagues are preferred.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of nursing experience preferred.
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
• Maintains competency reflective of current standards practice.

• Integrates evidence-based practice and research findings into nursing practice.
• Promotes safety measures to prevent patient and staff injuries.

• Document intraoperative in Epic.

Hourly Pay Range: $36.00 - $55.80 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

• Conducts appropriate surgical counts.
• Selects and handles instruments and supplies used for the operation, passing them to the surgeon.

What you will need:

• Two or more years of nursing experience is preferred.
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Demonstrates mastery of nursing skills.
• Communicates effectively and is able to guide and supervise nursing personnel.
• Current Illinois Nursing licensure
• American Heart Association CPR Certification
• ACLS, PALS, NRP may be required within six months depending on the unit requirements
