Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled RN to join our operating room team. You will assess patient needs, help plan and deliver perioperative care, and support discharge planning with the patient and family.

The ideal candidate has a valid RN license, BLS, at least one year of OR experience, and completes Perioperative Academy if new to the specialty. You will maintain clinical competencies and collaborate across the health care team to achieve excellent patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license in state of practice.
• BLS certification required.
• At least 1 year RN experience in operating room.
• Perioperative Academy curriculum for new to service/new OR nurses.
• Maintain clinical performance competencies via annual validations.
• Recent acute care RN experience in the specialty within the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs across physical, psychosocial, educational, and cultural domains, including discharge planning.
• Review patient history and physical with patient/family.
• Formulate and update the plan of care, including discharge planning, using assessment data.
• Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health care team.
• Evaluate patient and family response to care and revise the plan as needed.
• Document assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record.
• Provide evidence-based care and may participate in research activities.
• Contribute to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs
• Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family
• Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data
• Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the activities of the health care team
• Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, and revises the plan of care as needed
• Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record
• Provides care based on the best evidence available and may participate in research activities
• Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes

Requirements

• Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice
• BLS certification is required
• Minimum of one year RN experience in the operating room
• New to service/new operating room nurses must complete the Perioperative Academy curriculum
• Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area in which they work as demonstrated through annual validations
• Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area
