Job summary

Surgi-Center of Central VA is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Operating Room PRN to provide compassionate perioperative care in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

The OR RN will assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, uphold aseptic technique, and collaborate with surgeons and staff. VA license, BLS, ACLS preferred; experience in perioperative nursing required; join a quality-focused team delivering outpatient surgical excellence.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
• Current VA RN license (unrestricted).
• BLS required; ACLS preferred.
• Recent OR or perioperative nursing experience.
• Strong aseptic technique and sterile field maintenance.
• Excellent communication and teamwork; calm under pressure.
• Detail-oriented with commitment to patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate perioperative patient care.
• Provide care within nursing standards and OR policies.
• Communicate with physicians, patients, families and staff.
• Participate in quality improvement audits and committees.
• May assist with additional duties as directed by OR leadership.

Registered Nurse Operating Room at Surgi-Center of Central VA:

The Operating Room RN will assess, plans, implement, and evaluate care of patients in operating room. Provides care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Hospital. Makes decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicates appropriate information to physicians, patients, family members, and personnel in other departments as well as team members. May have additional responsibilities as designated by OR Director, or Board Runner, which include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits and projects.

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing

Licensure/Certification:

• Current RN unrestricted VA license
• BLS Required
• ACLS

Required Experience:

• Recent experience in the operating room or perioperative nursing.
• Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and sterile field maintenance.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure surgical situations.
• Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to patient safety.
