Job summary

The Toledo Clinic is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room on a per diem basis in Toledo, Ohio. The role involves circulating and scrubbing and supporting the surgical team in The Toledo Clinic Outpatient Surgery Center.

Responsibilities include developing a care plan, preparing and assisting during procedures, maintaining aseptic technique, documenting nursing care, and contributing to quality assurance. Previous OR experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or diploma in nursing with active Ohio license.
• BLS/ACLS is preferred but not required.
• Experience in operating room nursing is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops a plan of care based on patient data and procedure.
• Assists physician by preparing, monitoring, educating, or recovering the patient.
• Assists anesthesiologist to ensure patient safety and care quality.
• Maintains nursing documentation for operative patients.
• Updates physician preference cards as procedures evolve.
• Prepares, cleans, and sterilizes surgical instruments.
• Counts sponges, sharps, and instruments.
• Participates in Quality Assurance/Improvement.
• Fulfills other duties as assigned.

General Summary:

Perform circulating and scrubbing, duties in The Toledo Clinic Outpatient Surgery Center.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Develops a plan of care based on patient health care data, procedure to be performed, and expected patient outcomes.
2. Assists the physician by preparing, monitoring, educating, or recovering the patient in The Toledo Clinic Surgery Center.
3. Assists anesthesiologist to insure patient safety and quality of care.
4. Maintains documentation of nursing process for the care of the operative patient.
5. Evaluates changes in procedure and updates physician preference cards.
6. Prepares, cleans, and sterilizes instruments for surgeries.
7. Assists in counting sponges, sharps, and instruments.
8. Participates in Quality Assurance/Improvement.
9. Other duties as assigned

Education:

• Associates degree, Bachelors degree, or diploma in Nursing and Current State licensure required.

Preferred:

• BLS and ACLS preferred.
