Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a registered nurse to provide compassionate nursing care in a clinical setting on daytime shifts. The role includes medication administration, assessments, care planning, documentation, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Requires ADN with 2 years of experience; BSN preferred. Willingness to work variable shifts and be flexible for weekends/holidays/on-call as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years experience required.

Responsibilities

• Administers prescribed medications and treatments per policy and laws.
• Performs nursing assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care.
• Documents patient care according to standards of care.
• Develops and executes patient care plans per physician orders and unit policy.

OVERVIEWProvides compassionate nursing care to patients in a clinical setting while supporting the Mercyhealth nursing mission and values. May include variable shifts, weekends, holidays, and/or on-call hours. May also float to different units based on staffing needs and clinical competency. Performs other related duties as assigned.Schedule: 40 hours per weekShift: DaysESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESUtilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act.Performs assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care.Documents according to standards of care.Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and-or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.Utilizes clinical expertise and guidance to other units and-or departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care.Utilizes critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command.Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions and peer review process.Offers ideas and-or solutions to practice issues.Uses innovative methods and intuitive skills to develop and implement plans of care.Provides innovative ways to educate patient-familiesInitiates interdisciplinary collaboration to meet the patient/family educational needs.Actively participates in mentoring and precepting new partners to the organization.Positively influences the professional and organizational environments and shared governance.Engages in personal development and supports system-entity opportunities for continuous learning and growth including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines.Actively participates in a minimum of 1 departmental or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEGraduate of an accredited nursing program.ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred.Minimum of 2 years experience required.CERTIFICATION/LICENSURELicensed as an RN in state of practiceApproved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 daysOther certification(s) per unit requirements.
