Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse - Operating Room to provide high-quality perioperative nursing care. You will ensure sterile technique, participate in surgical preparation, and collaborate with perioperative teams to deliver safe, efficient patient care.

Required TX RN license (or multi-state compact with Texas licensing within 90 days), 1+ year OR experience, and current BLS/ACLS; CNOR/BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience as an RN in an Operating Room setting.
• Current RN License in Texas or Multi-State Compact; Texas license within 90 days if on compact.
• Current BLS and ACLS Certification.
• CNOR is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understand aseptic technique and maintain a sterile field; assist in procedures or prepare patient for surgery.
• Demonstrate knowledge of prep areas for different procedures.
• Assess patient prior to surgery and confirm informed consent and timeout with perioperative team.
• Demonstrate teamwork and adaptability; serve as a resource to Surgical Services team.
• Deliver quality nursing care and promote a positive image of nursing.

What You Will Do In Your Role

• You will have an understanding of aseptic technique and apply the knowledge in assuring maintenance of a sterile field and in assisting in a procedure or prepping a patient for surgery.
• You will demonstrate knowledge of which areas need to be prepped for the different kinds of procedure.
• You will assess the patient prior to surgery and establish that the patient understands the procedure being done and that a “timeout” be done prior to any procedure with the rest of the perioperative team.
• You will demonstrate teamwork, adaptability, and serve as a resource to the Surgical Services team.
• You will have accountability for delivering quality nursing care services and for promoting a positive image of nursing.

What qualifications you will need

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing is required. BSN is preferred.

• Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date).
